A Taiping guy personal rants and Malaysia Food blog
Taiping is not only a rain town, it’s a small food heaven as well. Taiping is a place where you can get a lot of good foods in cheaper price. I have eaten most of the good foods in Taiping because Taiping is my hometown, but currently I further my study in KL. Chinese New Year is coming soon which is on next week, I’ll take this opportunity to try more good foods, snap some photos and share it with you guys.
There is a food court which is located in Taiping Town, for those who know Taiping, I think they should know where is 菜市, we also call it “Cai Chi” (Hokkien). Many of us call it “Downstair of Larut Matang” also, it’s just opposite to Taiping Jaya Supermarket. There is a lot of good foods in this food court, I used to eat the Fried Fish Ball Koay Teow there.

* Fried Fish Ball Koay Teow – It doesn’t like other Fried Koay Teow, it’s a “Teok Chew” Cuisine. It consists of many ingredients such as Fish Ball, Char Siew, Fish Slice, Pork, and they put something like Fried Pork Oil, we call it “Zhu You Zha” (猪油渣) as well. The Fried Pork Oil helps to bring out the taste of Fried Fish Ball Koay Teow, it’s really delicious and good taste!
The Fried Fish Ball Koay Teow food stall is managed by a sister and brother, you can speak “Teok Chew” with them too. I suggest you to remind them not to put too much oil because sometimes the Fried Fish Ball Koay Teow can be too oily. The price is kinda cheap, it’s as low as RM2.20, but I’m not sure whether they have increased the price, maybe RM2.50 or RM3.00? It’s still worth, suggest you to give it a try.

Kueh Tiaw is always my favorites. In kuching, kueh tiaw doesn’t come with fish ball, but it comes with taugeh and cha siew. Hehe
