A Taiping guy personal rants and Malaysia Food blog
Last Sunday which was 21th December 2008 was Dong Zi or Tang Yuan Festival. They said after we ate Tang Yuan then we’ll be growing 1 year old, so I’m 21 years old now! Haha I’m still young right? I was in my hometown, Taiping last week from Thursday until Sunday. So, my lovely mum and I made Tang Yuan together at Saturday night so that we can ate it on Sunday morning.
First, my mum cook a bowl of water with pandan leaves, then put some sugar to make it sweet. Then she put the flour on the plate, mixed it with the sugar water just now. Then she started to twist it until it became solid.

* It’s only one part of the “solid flour” that had been twisted. (more…)

* Mexico Bun. It’s damn big if you see it in reality!
As usual, I went back to my hometown (Also known as Rain Town, Taiping) during public holiday last week. It was Malaysia 51th National Day. Normally I will tried a lot of new Taiping food everytime I back to my hometown, but not for this time due to my serious sore throat, too bad. So I was not going to anywhere to try any Taiping foods. So, what I can eat? I’m going to share and recommend you about this bread shop, named “Robert and Bakery” (If I’m not mistaken).
Actually this is my aunty bread shop, she sells variety of breads, kuih, cakes, biscuits and etc. This is where my first part time job as well, she hired me as a part time bread seller when I was still studied in secondary school. Of course, I had tried all the bread and kuih as well, I love them very much! Unfortunately, I can’t eat it since I have moved to KL 3 years ago.
So, I went back to Taiping this time and I ate only few breads there. I would like to share it with you guys about what is the bread i ate and how’s the bread shop look like. (more…)
I back to Taiping this time, I got not much time to try some other food. But I got try a nice drinks called Cendol in Taiping. The Cendol stall located behind St.George School. Taiping has a few of Cendol Stall, but I like only this one.

Their Cendol, reb bean, pulut also very fresh 1. They have original Cendol, Cendol with reb bean, Cendol with pulut and Cendol with red bean & pulut. The price is very cheap, original Cendol is only Rm1.10, for those add reb bean or pulut 1, the price wont more than Rm2. It’s very cheap and worth to eat.
The stall it’s just stated behind St.George School. Try it if you know where or you can ask me then I can show you where is it ^^ Sorry that i don’t take too much photo there because it’s raining when i’m eating, so once i finish eat then cabut already =.=”
I back to Taiping last Friday, so this time in Taiping, It’s dumpling festival, so I saw my mum and my grandma were making dumpling themselves. They are doing few types of dumplings, got plain KiZhang, KiZhang with red bean insides, pork dumpling and also pillow dumpling. I love pork dumpling the most, I can eat 2 together in one time. I’m not sure whether you all saw Pillow Dumpling before or not, my grandma made 1 damn big 1, I can only eat 1 in 1time.
Last Sunday is Dumpling Festival, my mum cook a lot of dishes to pray our forefathers. All also my favorite dishes. Got white chicken, vegetable, pork rib, sour timun(my favorite) and soup !! This all dishes is very common as my mum cook them to pray our forefathers during every important festival.

I bet you all have no chance to take this all dishes because is my mum home made 1 hehe. I believe everyone would say their mother’s cook is the best in this world. Same as mine. As the same, I have no chance to try your mother’s good dishes too. So, this is what I have for today, will share some other food next time.
Happy Dumpling Festival !!
Saturday in Taiping, I have to wake up early in the morning. I wake up at 6.45am and prepare to go out. I wait my friend to fetch me at 7.30am. Today we are going to help our colleague who is going to marry today. We all become his “Brother”. This so called “Brother”, we need to help him to settle the “Sister” in bride sides. So that they will open door let our bridegroom go in meet his wife. Their “Sister” really play us 99. First thing they want us eat the bread with chili powder, haha we laugh them, why the bread with chili powder no taste 1, LOL !! Then the 2nd thing they give us some Paper Underwear, damn it..they want us wear it. No cure..we have to =.=” a very funny look when we are wearing the paper underwear !! =.= After that, our bridegroom need to settle other questions that asked by “Sister”. They ask our bridegroom something about Bride’s favourite and some other thing. So we settle it just in about 30mins time. A very good experience to be “Brother”, because this is my first time being “Brother” ^^
