A Taiping guy personal rants and Malaysia Food blog
Choong Kee Kampar Claypot Chicken Rice Restaurant is a restaurant that located in Damansara Jaya which is just nearby The Mage Cafe. As the restaurant name, it sells Kampar style Claypot Chicken Rice. Before this Choong Kee Restaurant opened, it’s just a small food stall insides a Kopitiam named Kun Kee Kopitiam which is just located the same row with the current Choong Kee Restaurant. They just opened at night time when they were still a food stall in Kun Kee Kopitiam, after the renovation in Kun Kee and they have finally opened a own shop for their own Kampar Claypot Chicken Rice.
Other than serving Craypot Chicken Rice, they have few different types of fresh vegetables and steamed soup which you can take it as side dishes. For the Claypot Chicken Rice, you can have a normal claypot chicken rice which consists of little chicken and little sausage, you can add egg, chicken, salty fish and sausage. I used to eat the Claypot Chicken Rice with Salty Fish and Sausage (We call it as “Lap Cheong”).
Other than this, the special of Choong Kee Claypot Chicken Rice is they cook the Claypot chicken rice with oldish style which is cooked by using charcoal burn. It’s difficult to get those Claypot Chicken Rice that cook with Charcoal burn style because most of them are using gas now. By using charcoal burn style, it keeps the original taste for the Claypot Chicken Rice, it makes the Claypot Chicken Rice more nicer than using gas. The restaurant is always full during lunch time and dinner time.
The day before I went to education fair and snapped some Chinese New Year Themes in shopping complex, I had my breakfast in a quite popular Dim Sum Restaurant named Key Hiong Dim Sum Restaurant which is located in Taman Megah, Damansara Jaya. I had been there for few times already but usually I just dropped by to grab the “Big Pao”.
I used to eat Dim Sum in Hong Kee Dim Sum Restaurant which located at somewhere around Atria Shopping Complex, Damansara Jaya. If talking about Big Pao, I used to eat Key Hiong Dim Sum Restaurant because it’s really different compare with others. So, this time I had my breakfast in Key Hiong Dim Sum Restaurant together with my friends before we approached to education fair that held in KLCC. Everytime I eat Dim Sum, I must eat together with the “Dee Jio” (Sweet Sauce) or Miyonese, both sauce are my favourite.
Kam Heong Restaurant is a Teow Chew style restaurant which sells “Lo Duck” and some other dishes, but all of them are being “Lo”. Other than “Lo Duck”, they have other dishes like “Lo Mushroom“, “Lo Pig Hand“, “Lo Egg“, salty vegetable, and etc. They have rice and porridge, I have yet to try the porridge because this is my first time there. My senior and her bf brought me and my friend there after the Warehouse sales in PJ State too, they said want to bring us to try nice and popular duck rice and porridge in PJ State but I never heard it before, but I knew it after the dinner because the duck rice and all the dishes were really delicious and tasty!
All the dishes were served nicely, I think they have their own secret recipe and ingredients to stew (Lo) the duck and other dishes, that was why it was very strong smell when we walked in. All the foods looked delicious and we can’t wait to keep it into our tummy!
I had been taking my lunch at The Mage Cafe that located in Damansara Jaya for quite many times already, so I just decide to write a post about it. The Mage Cafe just nearby my office, that’s why we can always take our lunch there. The Mage Cafe is a pork free restaurant. It’s like a home made Penang Restaurant because the boss is from Penang. The design of the restaurant like your own house, when you step in, you’re just like going back to your own house. The name Mage Cafe is following with their theme, “mage” represents “magician”, “magican” represents “games”, yes it’s Games! Other than taking meal there, you can also play several games over there, they have many kinds of games which I didn’t know what was that.
The Mage Cafe has set lunch everyday, the set lunch will be changing everyday. Usually they have 2 types of set lunch which is chicken set or fish set, the taste and sauce for the chicken and fish set are changing everyday, so you can eat different types of set lunch everyday. Most probably I will just order their set lunch and my friends will order the popular fried rice which is Mage Fried Rice.
Wong Kok Restaurant is a small restaurant that located at Taman Kami, Aulong Taiping. It’s a small shop lot insides a Food court named 555 Food Court. The restaurant opened for about 6 months already if I’m not mistaken, the cook learned a lot from many Cook Sifu. If I’m not mistaken, he worked in Kum Lun Tai before too. My family and I always went there for dinner or yam cha everytime I back to Taiping because the cook is my dad’s best friend.
The cook, my dad’s best friend not only a good cook but a friendly and kind people too. Since it’s a small restaurant, he don’t have much seafood in the store but you can try to order, or perhaps you can order the seafood before the day you go so that he can buy the seafood. Although it’s a small restaurant, but the dishes can consider the best in Aulong.
So, we had 4 persons which are my parents, my grandpa and I, we ordered 4 dishes for our dinner. I like all the dishes, the tastes are very good!

* Craypot Fish Head – This is the dishes that I first order. The fish was very fresh. This craypot fish head mix with some vegetables, carrots, mushroom and some other ingredients. What I can say is, Best! (more…)
Kok Beng Chicken Rice Restaurant is the best Char Siew & Chicken Rice restaurant in Taiping. Before they renovated the restaurant, that was a small shop besides the restaurant. The most popular food is the Char Siew, the Char Siew is definitely delicious with its’ ingredient. I ate their Char Siew and Chicken Rice for more than 10 years already. Recently I back to Taiping and went back to the restaurant, their Char Siew was still as delicious as before.
I ordered Chicken Rice mix with Char Siew, they put the ingredient for Char Siew, everything looked great and delicious! I don’t know how can I describe it, you try it and you know how did I feel.

* Chicken and Char Siew Rice – I personally like the Char siew very much, especially the ingredient. I ordered extra chicken and char siew rice, the price was reasonable and it was just RM5.00. Worth it! (more…)
